ICAR scientists to work with Andhra Farmers ICAR Collision Repair Training 2011

I-CAR, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair, in collaboration with the General Motors Corvette team has announced that it will offer a three and a half day hands-on Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 training course beginning September 13 and running through September 30, with additional dates being added in October and November. The training will be held at the I-CAR Tech Centre in Appleton, Wisconsin. Jason Bartanen, I-CAR Technical Director said, “Vehicle makers are continually looking for ways to lighten vehicle structures and there is a strong likelihood that the industry will see more aluminum-intensive vehicles. The I-CAR Corvette ZR1 course offers a tremendous opportunity for repairers to receive a premier training experience, as well as earn credit toward the I-CAR Platinum Individual® designation.” This unique opportunity will provide individuals with the same world class training that Corvette ZR1 certified collision repair technicians receive and is open to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis. The Corvette ZR1 training will allow individuals to enhance their knowledge and skills in aluminum vehicle repair through performing hands-on welding and riveting repairs on Corvette ZR1 space frames. Individuals will also be able to perform sectioning activities, following General Motors repair procedures. A recent student from the Corvette ZR1 course stated, “When I started the class, I knew nothing about aluminum welding. I now know how to confidently weld aluminum and section frames. This is one of the most informative courses that I have ever attended,” the student continued, “With the hands-on training and excellent guidance from the instructors, I would not have a second thought about sectioning or replacing a frame rail on a Corvette. Be Recognized as an I-CAR Gold Class Professionals® Business For a collision repair business to qualify for the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals® designation, it must declare a minimum of one I-CAR Platinum Individual® as a Role Representative in each of the following four roles: Please Note- An employee may represent more than one role; however training will be required for each role they have declared. Insurers and Other Businesses Insurer or non-collision repair businesses can continue to qualify for the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals® designation under the former “5&2” rule through December, 2011. Information about a new program tailored specifically for businesses not directly involved with the physical repair will be available in the future. Like the program for collision repairers, it will recognize professional development training relevant to the declared role, therefore it is suggested that any new training taken be within the role-specific menu of courses.
